Here a few photos and some video from Last night's Deep anniversary party at Brick by Brick. With Andy C & Mc GQ Amazing night, music and crowd.
I almost forgot how much fun is to mix to drum n bass music, my ears are still hurting from the amazing sound system Deep brought for the night, I will be wearing earplugs for the show tomorrow..
anyways, I did a short video mix to show some of the visuals I worked on, the motion work was based on an old cd cover from Andy C's mix cd from Drum & Bass Arena.

Hice un pequeno mix con las visuales que use durante la noche, los loops que use fueron inspirados en la tapa de un mix cd de Andy C que salio enDrum & Bass Arena.

RISE OF THE SPEEDMEN
While Rise of the Speedmen cites My Bloody Valentine and the Smiths as influences, the resulting product sounds more like Beck's more contemplative work or Department of Eagles without the irony and New York edge. Most tracks move along in a dreamy lurch, underpinned by complex, insistent drum patterns that seem to keep the melodies from dissipating into the ether. The vocals float along a few steps behind, subdued and often low in the mix, sounding as though Padigos is behind the next wall, quietly singing a melancholy ditty to himself in the shower.

Here is a video I been working on for electronic music artist, El Poeta
This is some of his new work from the upcoming album The Maximalist.
Video was created part live, part in Adobe After Effects, the typeface was designed by myself and the words are extracted from a poem by El Poeta himself. Enjoy!

Here are pictures and video from my gig with Starline Theorie at the San Diego Museum of Art, I pretty much abused my video camera at this event, the band had dancers so I focused on having them on the screen a lot, mixing live footage with my visuals, this is nothing new, but lately I been having some troubles with either a crowd of people between my camera and the performer, or just really dark venues where you really can't shoot (at least with my camera) cause it's too dark.
This time I was in some sort of mezzanine, where the view was perfect, so everything turn out well.

The video you see below, is the only song where I didn't use live feed, and it just happens to be the only one I recorded.

Aqui fotos y video de my gig con Starline Theorie en el San Diego Museum of Art. En este evento abuse un poco mi camara de video, ya que la mayoria del tiempo estuve usando video en tiempo real de las bailarinas y los musicos para ponerlos en la pantalla mezclados con mis visuales, esto no es nada nuevo, pero ultimamente no se han dado las condiciones necesarias para que pueda usar esta tecnica, ya que o hay gente entre mi camara y los artistas o el espacio del evento esta muy oscuro para filmar. En esta ocasion estaba en una especie de balcon donde la vista era excelente por lo que salio bastante bien.
El video de abajo es el unico track donde no use la camara, y el unico que grabe esa noche.

Brokenbeat July 2007 | Recap

Here are some photos and footage from July's Brokenbeat featuring Tycho. A great show to watch and listen, live music with hardware, computers and even a guitar, at the same time he is also doing visuals on another laptop. I've been a fan of Scott's graphic work under the ISO50 name, before I learned about his music work, he has this unique style with a retro feel,(wich you will find on this music as well) and I loved how he transported his print work into slow paced visuals, this was deffenetly one of the highlights of Brokenbeat. I would reccomend that you check his graphic work before you jump into the videos below.

Aqui algunas fotos y video de Brokenbeat del mes de Julio, donde contamos con la presencia de Tycho. Su show es mas que interesante para escuchar y mirar, utilizando hardware, computadora y hasta una guitarra para tocar en vivo, mientras en otra laptop hace visuales. Desde hacia tiempo que era fan de su trabajo grafico bajo el nombre ISO50, con solo mirar un rato se puede reconocer un estilo bastante particular con feel retro, (que tambien se puede apreciar en su musica) y me parecio increible como transporto eso, a su trabajo visual animado, definitivamente fue una de las mejores noches en Brokenbeat. Me gustaria recomendar que vieran su trabajo grafico antes de saltar a los videos de mas abajo.
