Recap: Brokenbeat February '09

Here are some of the photos and video from the last Brokenbeat Night this time, with live visuals by Xarene Eskandar and Naute, where they experimented with a new project, called Andiamo that Andres (Naute) is developing in Processing, to incorporate live drawing, realtime video tracking, and is performed in "team mode" with Modul8.

Here is a video I been working on for electronic music artist, El Poeta
This is some of his new work from the upcoming album The Maximalist.
Video was created part live, part in Adobe After Effects, the typeface was designed by myself and the words are extracted from a poem by El Poeta himself. Enjoy!

Aqui un video en el que he estado trabajando para el musico electronico, El Poeta . Este track es parte de lo que sera su nuevo disco, The Maximalist.
El video fue generado parte en vivo, parte en Adobe After Effects, la tipografia fue creada por mi, y las palabras fueron extraidas de un poema escrito por el mismo artista.

No to be confused with Jesse's Visual Scratch, Argentinian based Estado Lateral's version of Visual Scratch offers a different approach with really good looking interface, I can see these 2 turntables as the center of attraction of any big night club. The Vj is able to spin 2 acrilic discs in order to rotate virtual 3d objects.

Sin confundir con Visual Scratch de Jesse, El collectivo Argentino Estado Lateral nos presenta otra version del Visual Scratch, con una ejecucion distinta y una muy atractiva interfase, es facil imaginar estas dos tornamesas como centro de atraccion visual en cualquier night club. Moviendo los dos discos de acrilico el vj puede mezclar y controlar la rotacion de objetos 3d.

UVA Live | Buenos Aires

Here is a little clip I found from the OneDotZero festival that took place in Buenos Aires, featuring United Visual Artists.
As usually top notch, one of the many things I love about UVA is that the content is changing depending on where they are performing, I just noticed a lot of information on the screen that features a lot of local (from Argentina) feeds of random information about television networks / sattelite and news.

Aqui un pequeno clip que encontre sobre la presentacion de United Visual Artists en el festival OneDotZero que se llevo a cabo en Buenos Aires hace poquito. Como es de esperar impecable. Una de las tantas cosas que me gustan de los actos de UVA es como cambian el contenido visual, dependiendo de donde esten llevando a cabo su acto, en las pantallas se puede leer lo que pareciera ser informacion sobre programacion televisiva, noticias varias e informacion satelital.

Developed by Argentinian multimedia artists Ivan Ivanoff and Jose Jimenez, livE (3vil) is a real-time projection that responds to the intervention of our body. A projection in which you can see a series of virtual bacterias that walk freely until they detect a presence, towards which they desperately run in search of it's flesh, to devour their pain and sins.

Ideado por los artistas multimediales Argentinos Ivan Ivanoff y Jose Jimenez, livE (3vil) es una proyeccion en tiempo real que responde a la intervencion de nuestro cuerpo. en ella se pueden ver una serie de bacterias virtuales que caminan libremente hasta que detectan una presencia a la que corren desesperadamente en busca de su carne para deborar sus pecados y dolores.

Vuvlegum VJs

Vuvlegum is a VJ collective from Argentina, one of the many things that I like from their work is the consistency Vuvlegum develops through the inclusion of a cartoon character (white rabbit) in a lot of their movie clips, I think this allows crowds to connect with the visuals in the same way they can connect with the music when they recognize a tune. I also liked their remix of a great video game I used to play back in the day, Maniac Mansion.

Vuvlegum es un collectivo de VJs de Argentina con un muy buen trabajo grafico, algo que rescato de su portfolio es la consistencia visual que ellos logran gracias a la inclusion de un conejito animado en muchos de sus loops; A mi parecer, esto ayuda a que el publico pueda identificarse con las visuales mas facilmente, estableciendo una conneccion grafica, de la misma manera que existe una auditiva cuando durante un evento musical, la banda o DJ toca un tema que es reconocible para la audiencia.
Ademas, creo que este remix que hicieron del video juego Maniac Mansion podria traerte un poco de nostalgia.
