Recap: Brokenbeat February '09

Here are some of the photos and video from the last Brokenbeat Night this time, with live visuals by Xarene Eskandar and Naute, where they experimented with a new project, called Andiamo that Andres (Naute) is developing in Processing, to incorporate live drawing, realtime video tracking, and is performed in "team mode" with Modul8.

Contakt events explore themes of Identification, Connectivity and Security in our ever-changing technology dependant world. Through interactions with the Cube, the audience and performers are brought together in new and exciting ways, allowing direct contact and deeper connectivity than is normally available at these type of events.

A device called "The Cube" (a custom-built LED device) allows performers, and audience members (with member cards or not) to communicate and interact during the show through wireless, bluetooth and cellular technologies).

The fantastic visuals belong to Ali M. Demirel

This event makes me want to re-think the recent Top 10 list, and only reinforces my belief that you can't just measure these sort of thing with a top 10.

Los eventos Contakt, exploran temas de identificacion, conectividad y seguridad durante el cambio constante que pasa por el mundo tecnologico-dependiente. Durante las interacciones con "El Cubo" (Un aparato construido para el evento con LED), permite a los musicos. visualistas y publico interactuar y comunicarse durante el show a travez de tecnologias inalambricas, bluetooth, y celulares.

Interesting work by Copenhagen based artist Ole Kristensen, consisting on a reactive floor projection for a dance performance group, the piece was performed at the Danish Theatre.

Flight Patterns | Koblin

The Flight Patterns visualizations are the result of experiments leading to the project Celestial Mechanics by Scott Hessels and Gabriel Dunne. FAA data was parsed and plotted using the Processing programming environment. These are some amazing videos of air traffic over the USA as seen by the FAA. More info at Aaron Koblin's site.

Developed by Argentinian multimedia artists Ivan Ivanoff and Jose Jimenez, livE (3vil) is a real-time projection that responds to the intervention of our body. A projection in which you can see a series of virtual bacterias that walk freely until they detect a presence, towards which they desperately run in search of it's flesh, to devour their pain and sins.
