The Victoria & Albert Museum presents Forever. Floating above the pond within the John Madejski Garden, a large videowall installation of endless animations responding to an ever changing soundtrack. The bespoke generative design system at the heart of Forever will spawn unique audio-visual films everyday, forever. By the always amazing Universal Everything.

El systema de diseno generativo en el corazon de "Forever" generara films audiovisuales unicos, todos los dias, para siempre. Realizado por los siempre asombrosos Universal Everything.

Atom Performance

Atom is a performance by Monolake and Christopher Bauder for a matrix of 64 gas balloons, lights, and sound.

A room is filled with deep, evolving noises from a four-channel sound system. An eight-by-eight array of white, self-illuminated spheres floats in space like the atoms of a complex molecule.
The sonic events, the patterns of light, and the movement of the balloons are manipulated in real time as a 45-60 minute-long performance.

Atom es un acto audiovisual producido por Monolake y Christopher Bauder para una matriz formada por 64 globos, luces y sonido.

El cuarto se llena con profundos sonidos cambiantes a travez de un sistema de sonido de 4 canales, Un arreglo globos blancos de 8 x 8 iluminados como si fueran atomos en una molecula compleja. Los patrones de luz, y movimiento de los mismos son manipulados es tiempo real durante el acto de 45-60 minutos de duracion.

Expo08 | Basemotion

Capitalizing on the exhibition’s ceilings and corrugated walls, the audiovisual of Room C show how thirst can have unexpected and varied consequences. The pieces range from a doomed perspective to using the theme of thirst as a catalyst for progress. This is a 2 min montage filmed on-site. The full installation last 6 minutes.

Expo 2008 (International Expo), takes as its theme the natural resource most affected by climate change. Water and Sustainable Development kicked off on June 14 in Zaragoza, a dry city in northern Spain. Encompassing more than 60 acres along the Ebro River, the expo is true to its theme—all of its facilities are powered by renewable energy sources.

Utilizando los techos y paredes corrugadas del local para la exhibicion, las audiovisuales del Cuarto C, narra las variadas e inesperadas consecuecias que trae la sed. Aqui se ve un montaje de 2 minutos. La instalacion dura 6 minutos.

Expo 2008 (International Expo), tiene como premisa los recursos naturales mas afectados por el cambio climatico. Agua y el desarollo sustenible comienzan en Zaragoza, una ciudad seca en el norte de Espana. A lo largo de mas de 60 acres al lado del rio Ebro, la exposicion utiliza recursos renobables para obtener su energia.

Las visuales fueron creadas por el grupo Espanol, Basemotion.

The Science Of Spying: Escape

A very cool installation by London based studio Pickled Onion, was shown as part of the The Science of Spying exhibit at the Science Museum in London. This reminds me of that part on the movie Total Recall, when Arnie is at the airport walking next to a huge x-ray scanner-wall screen.

Muy buena la instalacion por parte del estudio Loninense Pickled Onion como parte de la exhibicion La Ciencia del Espionaje en el Museo de Ciencia de Londres. Me recuerda a esa escena en la pelicula Total Recall cuando Arnold esta en el aeropuerto caminando y hay una pared/ escaner de rayos X.

Todays Art Festival 07 | Netherlands

Todays Art Festival, a Maxalot projection installation put together a projected surface with an area of 30 x 30 meters, another one of 18 x 26, 2 DLP projectors of 20k L, and a list of 24 incredible artists including:

Todays Art Festival, un proyecto de instalacion visual organizado por Maxalot, combino una superficie de 30 x 30 metros, otre de 18x20, 2 proyectores de 20k lumens, y la lista de artistas incluida mas arriba, si bien aun no encuentro video del evento, se puede ver un poco del trabajo visual de de WWFT aqui. y abajo pueden ver un pequeno documental sobre el evento del ano pasado.

Out of Bounds - O'Shea

We've all dreamed about having X-Ray Vision and being able to see through walls, Chris O' Shea, the talented man behind Pixelsumo, was inspired by that same dream when he came out with "Out of Bounds".
An Installation at the Design Museum in London, where visitors are able to shine an "X-Ray Torch" through the walls of the museum in order to reveal the secret areas hidden behind the walls. Watch the video here.

Todos sonamos alguna vez con tener vision de rayos X y poder ver a traves de las paredes, Chris O' Shea, el talentoso hombre detras de Pixelsumo, fue inspirado por esa misma idea cuando creo "Out of Bounds" (Algo asi como fuera de limites). Una instalacion para el Design Museum en Londres, donde los visitantes podian utilizar una "linterna de rayos X" por las paredes del museo, revelando asi los contenidos secretos que se encontraban detras de las mismas. Here are pictures and video from my gig with Starline Theorie at the San Diego Museum of Art, I pretty much abused my video camera at this event, the band had dancers so I focused on having them on the screen a lot, mixing live footage with my visuals, this is nothing new, but lately I been having some troubles with either a crowd of people between my camera and the performer, or just really dark venues where you really can't shoot (at least with my camera) cause it's too dark.
This time I was in some sort of mezzanine, where the view was perfect, so everything turn out well.

The video you see below, is the only song where I didn't use live feed, and it just happens to be the only one I recorded.

Aqui fotos y video de my gig con Starline Theorie en el San Diego Museum of Art. En este evento abuse un poco mi camara de video, ya que la mayoria del tiempo estuve usando video en tiempo real de las bailarinas y los musicos para ponerlos en la pantalla mezclados con mis visuales, esto no es nada nuevo, pero ultimamente no se han dado las condiciones necesarias para que pueda usar esta tecnica, ya que o hay gente entre mi camara y los artistas o el espacio del evento esta muy oscuro para filmar. En esta ocasion estaba en una especie de balcon donde la vista era excelente por lo que salio bastante bien.
El video de abajo es el unico track donde no use la camara, y el unico que grabe esa noche.

Bit Fall | Julius Popp

Julius Popp, an interactive artist from Leipzig, Germany, has developed a technological device to make a waterfall of a liquid screen. Each drop of water is a falling pixel. This technology also allows big three dimensional installations to permit various uses of this work in such areas as those of publicity and the commercial events. He Explains more about it, in this short documentary.

Julius Popp, Artista interactivo de Leipzig, Alemania, ha creado una cascada / pantalla, cada gota de agua es un pixel que cae. Esta tecnologia tambien permite el uso de graficos en 3D, lo que lo convierte en algo util para areas como publicidad y eventos comerciales. El mismo artista explica un poco mas sobre el proyecto en este documental.

Some photos from Crosswired's opening night. I also got some video of Jarrett Smith's visuals, The audio is very crappy, sorry about that (I was standing right next to the speakers) Other than that, it was a great night. I started my set late, so by the time I was just getting into that creative zone, the event was over. I wish it was longer!! I'm going to try making it up there again, to see another vjs. Remember this is going on till May11th!!.

Algunas fotos de la noche de apertura de Crosswired. Tambien pude tomar video del set de Jarrett Smith, pero el sonido es bastante malo, pido disculpas pero estaba parado justo al lado de los parlantes. Fuera de eso fue muy buena noche, empece mi set tarde por lo que cuando empezaba a adentrarme en esa zona creativa, el evento termino, hubiera querido que fuera un poco mas largo. Voy a ver si puedo mandarme de nuevo para alla a ver a otros Vjs. Recuerden que esto sigue hasta el 11 de Mayo.

Hour of Prayer | Ahtila

Last Saturday I saw a bit of Eija-Liisa Ahtila's The hour of prayer, at the MCASD, "a short tale about attachment and death that is based on the artist's own life" shown in four simultaneous projections. The material is split into four parts and the story has been edited to unfold on four screens. The intention is to explore the possibilities of disrupting the traditional causal logic, structure, and space for perception in screen narrative.

El sabado pasado pude ver un poco de la instalacion de
Eija-Liisa Ahtila's The hour of prayer, en el MCASD "una corta historia sobre muerte y apego, basada en la vida de la artista." Proyectado en 4 pantallas simultaneas y editado para ser dividido en partes, explorando las posibilidades de estructura espacio y percepcion en la narrativa.

Saul Bass: The Hollywood Connection

No exactly a VJ but his title sequence work was, is and will be very inspiring.
Saul Bass: The Hollywood Connection, an exhibition focusing on the graphic designer’s acclaimed work for the American film industry, will be on view at the Skirball Cultural Center (Los Angeles, CA) from January 4 through April 1, 2007.

Saul Bass: The Hollywood Connection, una exhibicion enfocada en el trabajo para la industria de cine norteamericano del famoso disenador. Sera exhibido en el Skirball Cultural Center de Los Angeles, CA del 4 de Enero al 1ero de Abril del 2007.

Under Scan | Lozano - Hemmer

Mexican electronic artist Rafael Lozano - Hemmer has some interesting Projects on his site. One of the ones that caught my eye was UNDER SCAN, a large-scale public art project commissioned by the East Midlands Development Agency in England. Thousands of "video-portraits" taken in Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Northampton and Nottingham will be projected onto the ground of the main squares and pedestrian thoroughfares of these cities. At first, the portraits will not be visible because the space will be flooded by white light coming from the world’s most powerful projector. As people walk around the area, their shadow will be cast on the floor, revealing the video-portraits. The short video sequences begin with the subjects in a still position turned away from the camera. As they appear within pedestrians' shadows, their bodies move and their heads turn to look straight at the pedestrian, potentially giving rise to an interesting range of interactions. When a shadow moves away from a portrait, the portrait likewise reacts by losing interest and looking away.

El artista Mejicano, Rafael Lozano - Hemmer tiene una variedad de projectos interesantes en su website . Ono de los que me llamo la atencion fue UNDER SCAN, un proyecto de arte público encargado por el East Midlands Development Agency en Inglaterra. Miles de "video-retratos" tomados en Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Northampton y Nottingham serán proyectados en el piso de las plazas y calles peatonales de esas ciudades. Inicialmente los retratos no se podrán ver ya que estarán borrados por la intensa luz proveniente del proyector más potente del mundo. Según camine la gente, su sombra será proyectada en el piso "descubriendo" los retratos. Las secuencias de video comienzan con los sujetos viendo hacia un lado. Según aparecen dentro de las sombras de los transeuntes, los retratos se mueven y voltean hacia ellos directamente. Cuando una sombra se retira de un retrato automáticamente el retrato se gira para mirar a otro sitio.

Zipper Orchestra | Joo Youn Paek

Joo Youn Paek is the author of Zipper Orchestra, an interactive video installation: a combination of the "Conductor Musical Score" as a physical controller and the "Zipper Actions Collage Video" as musical display. Users can play music by zipping and unzipping the physical zipper.

Memento | Gollner + Schmuch

Memento is an interactive video installation made by Ulrike Gollner and Jeldrik Schmuch during the INTERACIVOS? workshop at Medialab Madrid.
Each person who visits the installation leaves a small part of itself to let future visitors be aware of his/her appearance.
Memento will steal your shadow! While interacting with memento, sound is played and manipulated to the shape of your shadow. Meanwhile you see your shape among all the former visitors walking through the room. Time is no longer existant.

Tijuana Art | MCASD

Here are some pictures from last night's exhibit Strange New World: Art and Design from Tijuana at the MCASD. The opening ceremony featured many music artists from Tijuana, and the visuals for the night where provided by YONKEart.
The exhibit runs May 21 through September 17.

Radio Map | Hohl and Huber

Michael Hohl (UK) and Stephan Huber (Germany) developed Radio Map, an interactive enviroment that allows you to listen to live internet radio from different parts of the globe, based on the geographic location that you are standing on a projected photorealistic image of earth.

Interactive Plant Growing

Christa Sommerer and Laurent Mignonneau explore the relationship between art, science and technology. For their project The Interactive Plant Growing, they designed interfaces between vegetal and device-related systems, between man and machine, is one of the greatest challenges of interactive technology.
