Expo08 | Basemotion

Capitalizing on the exhibition’s ceilings and corrugated walls, the audiovisual of Room C show how thirst can have unexpected and varied consequences. The pieces range from a doomed perspective to using the theme of thirst as a catalyst for progress. This is a 2 min montage filmed on-site. The full installation last 6 minutes.

Expo 2008 (International Expo), takes as its theme the natural resource most affected by climate change. Water and Sustainable Development kicked off on June 14 in Zaragoza, a dry city in northern Spain. Encompassing more than 60 acres along the Ebro River, the expo is true to its theme—all of its facilities are powered by renewable energy sources.

Utilizando los techos y paredes corrugadas del local para la exhibicion, las audiovisuales del Cuarto C, narra las variadas e inesperadas consecuecias que trae la sed. Aqui se ve un montaje de 2 minutos. La instalacion dura 6 minutos.

Expo 2008 (International Expo), tiene como premisa los recursos naturales mas afectados por el cambio climatico. Agua y el desarollo sustenible comienzan en Zaragoza, una ciudad seca en el norte de Espana. A lo largo de mas de 60 acres al lado del rio Ebro, la exposicion utiliza recursos renobables para obtener su energia.

Las visuales fueron creadas por el grupo Espanol, Basemotion.

Delicate Boundaries | Medialab

"Delicate Boundaries is an interactive installation where human touch can dissolve the barrier of the computer screen. Using the body as a means of exchange, the system explores the subtle boundaries that exist between foreign systems and what it might mean to cross them. Lifelike digital animations swarm out of their virtual confinement onto the skin of a hand or arm when it makes contact with a computer screen creating an imaginative world where our bodies are a landscape for digital life to explore."

Usando el cuerpo como una fomra ce intercambio, el sistema explora los sutiles limitaciones que existen entre sistemas ajenos y lo que significa cruzarlos. Animaciones como con vida propia salen de su espacio virtual, trsladandose a la mano o brazo cuando este toma contacto con la pantalla. creando un mundo imaginario donde nuestros cuerpos son el paisaje a explorar para estos seres digitales."

Liquid Space | Diesel

Diesel Recently presented their Liquid Space fashion show in Florence, Italy, featuring amazing projections that looked almost holographic, that moved up and down on the runway.
My theory on how its done: a translucid screen along one of the sides of the runway, allowed the audience to see the models and the floating graphics from both sides. Diesel Creative Director, Wilbert Das, teamed up with Danish based video technology studio, Vizoo and Barcelona based mograph studio Dvein to put together this one of a kind show.

My theory was incorrect, here is how it was done:

“The visuals are projected through a series of ‘foils’ into mid air, so you see the images in mid-air. The models can then interact with them and walk through them. We used plastic foils placed at 45 degree angles so that the projected light from the ceiling goes onto a foil, is reflected on to another and then into the air.

We worked it so it had a real catwalk feel and so that you could view it from both sides: you can see the models, the holograms and the public from both sides. It’s never been used this way before as the technology has just been used in the corporate world before, for sales presentations, and the visuals have always just been viewed from one side. So we set up two rigs instead."

Recientemente Diesel presento su show Liquid Space, en Florencia, Italia, donde se pudieron ver increibles proyecciones casi holograficas, moviendose a lo largo de la pasarela.
My teoria, sobre como se hizo: una pantalla translucida suspendida a lo largo de la pasarela sobre uno de los lados de la misma, permitia al publico observar a los modelos y animaciones desde los dos lados. El director creativo de Diesel, Wilbert Das, se agrupo con el estudio de tecnologia visual Danes, Vizoo y el estudio de animacion de Barcelona, Dvein para poner en escena este show.

Vj Defektv | Demoreel 07

"From Brussels to London via Berlin and Barcelona, Defektv have played their mighty dark and glitchy visuals in Anti-Sonar underground parties, Luv*Jam and Krass along artists such as Andrew Weatherall, Boyznoise and Coley! (Madrugada/Mulletover/Playtime)."
Here is their new demoreel, their visuals kept me entertained the whole time. Some really nice stuff in there!

Barcelona based Area3, is a collective of artists, designers, programmers and musicians working in interactive new media.
Net Artist: It's a cartoon video with the voice of a net-artist, looking for attention. He explains what net-art is, and the problems he has in order to reach people and to be considered as an art maker".

Memento | Gollner + Schmuch

Memento is an interactive video installation made by Ulrike Gollner and Jeldrik Schmuch during the INTERACIVOS? workshop at Medialab Madrid.
Each person who visits the installation leaves a small part of itself to let future visitors be aware of his/her appearance.
Memento will steal your shadow! While interacting with memento, sound is played and manipulated to the shape of your shadow. Meanwhile you see your shape among all the former visitors walking through the room. Time is no longer existant.

Memento es una instalacion interactiva conceptualizada por Ulrike Gollner y Jeldrik Schmuch presentada en el workshop INTERACTIVOS? en Medialab Madrid.
Cada persona que visita la instalacion deja una pequeña parte de si mismo, dejando que futuros visitantes perciban su apariencia. Memento roba tu sombra!

Neon V2 | XPLSV

The Guys at XPLSV don't stop, I just got an email from David Domingo, letting us know that they just did a public public release of their custom VJ application, Neon V2 (beta). His creator, Jordi Ros, also opened a forum, to have bug reports an questions answered by the man himself. Thanks for sharing!.

Some of the features include: MIDI support, Live video capture (beta), Video set recordings and more.
Unfortunately for me, this is a PC version only at the moment. For the rest of us MAC users, you should check this post by Momo the Monster.

Los chicos de XPLSV no paran un segundo!. Acabo de recibir un email de David Domingo, diciendo que acaban de hacer un release publico de su aplicacion VJ, Neon V2 Neon V2 (beta).
Su creador, Jordi Ros ademas abrio un forum para reportar bugs y contestar preguntas. Gracias por compartirlo!

Algunas de losfeatures de la aplicacion incluyen: Soporte MIDI, Captura de video en directo (beta), posibilidad de grabar los sets, y otras mas.

Lamentablemente para mi, este soft es solor para PC users por ahora, Para el resto de los maqueros tal vez deberian de checkar este post reciente de Momo the Monster.

XPLSV Crew | Spain

David Domingo, from Plexiq , was kind enough to share with me, a little about what's going on at the moment in Spain regarding crews, collectives inside the A/V scene. Something that came to my attention was, Xplsv. A spanish vj / creative crew. focused on enhanced club visuals (real time generated graphics), vj-sets, dj-sets, music composition, video experimentations all with their own custom application, Neon. Good stuff!

David Domingo de Plexiq me comentaba sobre algunas de las cosas que estan pasando en el scene Espanol, dentro de lo que es la cultura de colectivos audiovisuales. Uno de los que mas me llamo la atencion fue Xplsv un grupo de creativos/vj que se dedican a producir visuales para clubs, pasar y producir musica, ademas utilizan su propia aplicacion Vj, llamada Neon. Muy interesante.

NDTV, tiene un practica poco usual en lo que a proyecciones visuales, omitiendo la necesidad de una aplicacion VJ utilizando unicamente una aplicacion de illustracion vectorial.
