[ English ] Here is the promo for Brokenbeat Night, A free monthly event that promotes live electronic music & live video performance. The promo was a collaboration work between Swiss based video artist Lenny Herzog and myself.

Opening for names like DEL the Funky Homosapien, Haiku D ' Etat feat.Aceyalone, Young M.C., Ab Rude & Mikah 9, Zion I, CMA, Typical Cats, The Grouch, and numerous others. In 2004 she joined Sun Dialect one Southern California's hottest up and coming underground labels, and currently has residencies with Thrusters, The Downbeat, Soul Glo, and Earthbound Radio. In the fall of 2006 PNutz also joined forces with Soul Province headed by members of Jeshno, the Twelvez collective and Earthbound Radio.

With a diverse background ranging from fashion & automotive design to architecture and event production. She has given talks internationally on her book, 'vE-"jA, which captures a global snapshot of the international VJ scene.
Xárene's recent works look towards media in defining temporary habitats in invisible urban infrastructures. She holds an MFA from UCLA's Design/Media Arts, and is currently working towards her PhD at UCLA Arch. & Urban Design. She recently completed a VJ tour with Hennessy Artistry and has some short films in the making.
NAUTE MOLDEO INTERACTIVE/ TRIPTYCH MIRROR/ ARGENTINA
Nauté is Andres, Colubri, a visual performing artist, hacker, researcher and open knowledge advocate. Originally from Argentina, he has spent a number of years in the U.S. navigating between diverse areas of scientific and artistic practice, from bioinformatics to media arts and interactivity.
Now based in L.A. , he is exploring the languages of live cinema and VJ'ing while developing his own custom software tools for visual performance, in collaboration with artist Xárene Eskándar from Lumens.
Visual artist Miguel Vega, Originally from Argentina, has been doing visuals for various live performances and installations since 2002.

For over a decade, Irwins Conspiracy has been doing Live Electronic performances consisting of elements of breakbeat, ambient, noise and some live mash ups. His unique performances are made up of live electronic drumming, along with sounds looped live and triggered via modules/computer and controlled using a theremin.
Irwin takes a break from his weekly LA gig at Air Conditioned Lounge to take the drive south to perform at BrokenBeat Night. You may have seen his DVD, now see the real thing live at Kadan.
BrokenBeats own Breakah Breakah 1-9 warms things up at Kadan for his performance next month at the Source festival in Maui. Pure filthy, nasty glitchy-ness closing out the night right… we will be moppin' off the dance-floor once this thing is over….
Dirty Dr Nickels has been makin some headz talk lately bout his newfound nasty sounds. Taking a break from his Wednesday night elevate hustling we are happy to have Dr Nickels drop bombs for BB Night.

[ English ] Here are some photos from our last Brokenbeat here in San Diego, where we had another LA-VA member: Vj MK Ultra, A.K.A. Eric Medine drove down from L.A. to bring some of his visuals. Very nice work, the night was pretty good, nice crowd, and I noticed several people commenting on how great the visuals look, some wanted to say hello and meet the VJ, and Eric is super nice, you can tell he loves what he does.
[ Castellano ] Aca algunas fotos de lo que fue el ultimo Brokenbeat aca en San Diego, donde recibimos a otro miembro de LA-VA, VJ MK Ultra, A.K.A. Eric Medine, viajo desde Los Angeles para venir a pintar las paredes del evento. Muy bueno su trabajo, la noche fue mas que interesante, buen grupo de gente, y pude notar que varios se acercaban a saludar a Eric y felicitarlo por sus visuales y Eric es un buen tipo, se nota que ama lo que hace.
Formed in '97, producer Eduard Glukhov evisioned a single cell orchestra, creating off of hardware original basslines and drum patterns. With sounds ranging from trip-hop to jazz to ambient to jungle.

Working primarily in multimedia & video art. Eric Medine has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago & Masters from The Otis School of Art and Design in L.A. where he now resides.
He has curated & contributed multiple exhibitions and his work was shown all over L.A. aswell as countries like France, Bulgaria, Netherlands and more.

[ Castellano ] El video-artista de Los Angeles, y miembro de La-Va, Vj Fader, me acaba de informar que lanzo una seleccion de 38 loops que produjo con intencion de distribuir en forma gratuita para todo aquel que quiera utilizarlos, puedes bajarlos de aqui. Y ya que estas, echale una mirada a su Vj Software Neuromixer. En el video de arriba podes ver los loops en un mix creado por el mismo autor.
[ English ] Here a few photos from the last Brokenbeat night, once again L.A. based, Vj Fill was our guest Vj for the night, and every time he is around I hear compliments from people I know and complete strangers, Fill has this thing with security cameras, that he spreads around the venue, and uses to do realtime scratching(scrubbing?), and I think a lot of people noticed that when he started using it on the dancing crowd, as they wondered "how is he doing that?"
On the music side we had the heavy sounds of dubstep with Osal8 and Breakah and on the jazzy side Cuttyman and Dj Collagey
Also a little video flyer I made for the event, consistent with the print flyers, same type, colors etc.
[ Castellano ] Aqui algunas fotos del ultimo Brokenbeat night, una vez mas Vj Fill de Los Angeles fue el Vj Invitado a participar a mi lado, cada vez que anda por aca recibo elogios de conocidos y gente que no conosco, Fill tiene esta mania con camaras de seguridad, que utiliza en su rig distribuyendolas por el local y que utiliza en sus visuales haciendo scratch (scrub?) en tiempo real. y creo que la audiencia lo nota, sobretodo cuando los incluye en las pantallas, mientras ellos se preguntan: "como hace eso?"
En el lado musical tuvimos los sonidos pesados del dubstep de la mano de Osal8 y Breakah y del lado jazzy a Cuttyman y Dj Collagey

[ English ] Here are some pics and video from the last brokenbeat, with Momo the Monster as our Guest Vj, There is also some footage of the night, The first video is a bit of Momo's visual set for Disrupter, the second video is a fragment from our set together for Frik n Frak.
I managed to put together a translucid screen for this event, still working on how to improve it a bit, but it's coming along. One thing I noticed (and many of the Brokenbeat usuals) is that usually people hang out in the back of the venue, this time people where in front, was it the music? the new screen? or maybe Momo's charm?

Para este ultimo evento arme una pantalla translucida, todavia tratando de mejorarla pero va saliendo. Una cosa que notamos es que en grall siempre la gente se queda en la parte de atras, esta vez la concentracion de gente se vino para adelante, habra sido la musica?, la pantalla nueva? o quizas el talento de momo?

I just came across with Surya's experiments in Quartz Composer. This is a technology I have not had time to dive into myself, as I can't seem to make it work on my computer for some reason, but looks very nice. Cityscape, Pixel invaders and Ribbon cube are some of my favorites, really nice work! He is also kind enough to share his source files, for people to download and learn.
