A two-minute animated voyage through nature's life cycle, following the trials and tribulations of a humble apple seed.
The film was kindly funded by Adobe, made using their CS4 range of software. It was produced at Nexus Productions and features a soundtrack by Jape. It was made using a mixture of stop motion papercraft and 2D drawn animation.

Bonaroo Promo | Jokelson

This is fantastic, I love it!
A motion promo for the Bonaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee.
Directed by Elliot Jockelson.
"We made this video using an experimental animation process that utilizes the principals of traditional cell animation (think of a flip book) in a very unique way. By removing the negative space of each cell or frame of animation you are able to see the history of frames before it. For our piece we designed an animation rig that was 19 frames deep, allowing us to see 19 frames of our animation at once."

"Hicimos el video utilizando una tecnica experimental en el proceso de animacion, utilizando los principios tradicionales en una forma bastante unica. Removimos el espacio negativo de cada celula o cuadro para que se visualizaran los cuadros anteriores que la antecedieron. Por cada pieza de animacion se ven 19 cuadros anteriores, dejando ver 19 cuadros de animacion al mismo tiempo."

Stop Motion - Wall Animation

I know very little about this, just that it took over 13 hours drawing on the floors and walls of an abandoned building.

Light Doodles | Sprint

[ English ]
If you are in the U.S. you probably seen the sprint commercial with the light animations produced by Brickyard VFX. While the end results are fantastic, I wonder if projects like Pika Pika (see previous entry) get any credit for this, its seems to be the never ending story of the small independent project inspiring a large corporation that takes the concept to the masses and calls it self cutting edge and experimental. Watch the spot below, and the behind the scenes below it.

Aqui el nuevo comercial the Sprint, producido por Brickyard VFX, si bien los resultados son asombrosos, me pregunto si proyectos como Pika Pika (leer blog anterior se llevan algun tipo de credito por esto, pareciera ser la historia interminable sobre el original proyecto independiente capturado por la gran corporacion y llevado a las masas, llamandose asi misma hip o experimental. Mira el spot mas abajo y como se hizo debajo de el mismo.

Hitchhikers Choice | Ljudbilden

Here is some more stop motion goodness, Sweden based audio/visual artist, Ljudbilden made this very nice video for Minilogue, on whiteboard. Very cool illustrations.

Stop Motion Test 01

Here is my first attempt in probably 15 years to stop motion, as a kid I used to make these with my dad's video camera and a bunch of playmobil, Now my set up is a bit better, I use my Canon 300D with Remote Capture then I export as Quicktime video using iPhoto. Nothing fancy, but I been meaning to get back into this for quite some time now, too bad I don't have my playmobils anymore.

Aqui mi primer intento al stop motion despues de por lo menos unos 15 años, Cuando era chico me colgaba a hacer de estos con mis playmobil y la camara de video de mi padre. Ahora mis herramientas estan un poco mas avanzadas, En vez de video, use mi camara de fotos Canon 300D con Remote Capture, luego exporto a Quicktime video con iPhoto, nada especial, pero hacia tiempo que queria empezar a probar esto de nuevo, lastima que no tengo mas playmobil.

Pika Pika | Light doodles

Pika Pika is Takeshi 's light doodling project.
Takeshi explains: We take photos of each image using long exposures and then place them toghether in order to complete the animation. We travel around different spaces in Japan and many friends get involved in order to bring this project to life. During the process people can interact and meet new friends as they create art, this is also about communication.

Pika Pika es el proyecto de garabatos luminosos de Takeshi . Quien nos explica: Tomamos varias fotos de cada imagen usando exposiciones prolongadas y luego las colocamos en forma lineal para poder completar la animacion. Nosotros trabajamos en diferentes espacios alrededor de Japon y muchas personas nos ayudan a completar varias de las piezas. Durante el proceso, las personas pueden interactuar y conocer nuevos amigos mientras crean arte, con este proyecto tambien buscamos la comunicacion.

Marco Brambilla's Cyclorama

I was lucky enough to enjoy this installation piece at the SFMOMA
by Marco Brambilla, consisting of nine monitors mounted on a cylindrical structure, where video loops of nine different revolving rooftop restaurants play endesly, in what it appears to be, stop motion photography. Each monitor displays a complete rotation of the space and all of them are played at the same time in consecutive monitors, working as a one rotation, giving whoever is inside the structure, the sense of standing in a spinning room.
